AUTUMN 2020 WINGS ON KING BIRD SURVEYS 23-26th April, 2020 COME ALONG: Its Fun, its Free and its Imp

This fun weekend will be punctuated by social events starting with the Welcome and Team-Up on Thursday evening. Just a little wine and that wonderful King Island Cheese will be provided to welcome everyone.

There is the opening of an important art exhibition on Friday evening - probably with a bit more cheese and KI goodies to nibble on but this time you need to BYO wine or whatever beverage you prefer. The exhibition focuses on the endemic Birds of King Island - those that are endangered and those already extinct so it is very relevant for anyone who loves and cares for birds - or for art.

On Saturday we will be gathering at the Ocean Dunes Hotel, enjoying a good-old pub dinner and hearing from Dr Jenny Lau. Jenny manages BirdLife Australia's Preventing Extinctions Program so has visited KI on several occasions in relation to the Recovery Plan for King Island's two critically endangered birds - the KI Brown Thornbill and the KI Scrubtit. However, since the devastating summer fires Australia has experienced, she and her team have been flat-out assessing the damage in relation to birds. So with all that happening, we are very lucky to have her making time for King Island again. She will talk about 'Birds and Fire' and update us on what's happening with the Recovery of the Scrubtit and Thornbill.

HOPE TO SEE YOU HERE. It's always a great weekend....
